SPAF is Korea's biggest performing arts festival that presents major international and domestic contemporary works of drama, dance and interdisciplinary arts.
Founded in 2001 as part of the Government's plans for the World Cup, it runs for about 1 month (mid September - mid October) in major venues throughout Seoul. SPAF is funded by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Arts Council Korea, Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture.
SPAF is a festival that introduces work of the highest quality and of widespread reputation. We present cutting-edge, innovative contemporary work that provokes topical issues. Over the past seven years, we have presented more than 409 works (78 overseas works, 331 domestic works and auxiliary events) and 2008 will be our 8th edition.
As a part of a network of international performing arts festivals, SPAF is recognised as a cultural hub for Northeast Asia. We also serve as a venue for educating Korean artists and promoting them to the International market.
